Revealing Trends in Leadership Research: A Bibliometric Analysis of World Contribution and Institutional Collaborations

Abstract
This research aimed to explore patterns and trends by bibliometric analysis from the Scopus database with emphasis on leading terms “School leadership model” and “Leadership Professional Development” from English language literature after the year 2000. The research applied systematic bibliometric tools to trace the network of citations and identify co-authoring relationships while depicting keyword coherence for the identification of influential works and creating patterns of research. The findings revealed that publications increased substantially during 2015–2016 before reaching their maximum level in 2023 while the Journal of Hospital Medicine released the most publications and the author Gerardi D. had the most publications. The University of California stood as the top institution donor and the United States produced the most contributions compared to international competitors who mainly came from Greece and Malaysia. Each publication displayed an article as the main content while nursing and medicine stood as the two most frequently studied subjects. Research activity centers on “Anderson N” because this author exhibits leadership as the main subject area but the field still experiences scattered research communities. The study concludes that published research is concentrated among specific authors while institutions from different nations differ in their contributions to international research and fragmented collaboration which makes leadership the principal research focus although spread across many sources. A Contextualized Training and Development Program (CTDP) should be institutionalized while creating collaborative ecosystems, diversifying publication methods, establishing mentorship structures, and developing research programs with key themes including leadership and healthcare quality.
