Submission Checklist

Before submitting, authors are required to check their submission compliance to the following items:

  1. The authors certify that the manuscript to be submitted has not been previously published nor is under review before another journal.
  2. The authors are responsible for securing necessary copyright permissions from using third party materials in their manuscript.
  3. The authors declare that the manuscript is the product of their original work/research and has been written by the authors themselves. To verify originality, the submitted manuscript will be subjected to plagiarism detection software.
  4. Please consider that before submitting, the manuscript has been spell checked and grammar checked
  5. Ensure that all references cited in the text are listed in the reference section and vice versa.

Guidelines

ReSERDS accepts original research articles and research briefs. Research articles are longer and contain more technical information while research briefs are relatively shorter and have less technical information but contain substantive information intended for decision-makers, managers, or policymakers.

Authors intending to submit to ReSERDS should adhere to these guidelines and formatting requirements. Papers submitted not following the minimum requirements will be sent back to the authors.

  1. The manuscript should be written in English.
  2. The length of the manuscript for original research articles should be around 20-25 pages, double-spaced with 8,000 maximum words (inclusive of references, tables and figures) while research briefs should be around 10 to 15 pages of about 4,000 words maximum.
  3. Manuscripts should be typed in Times New Roman, Arial or Calibri font, sized 12, 1-inch margin on all sides, with justified alignment, and preferably A4 size paper (21cm x 29.7cm)
  4. The suggested structure of the manuscript for original RESEARCH ARTICLES should comprise and be arranged as follows:
    • Title Page. The title should not be broad but concise and specific. This section also constitutes the authors and co-authors including their respective addresses, affiliations, and e-mail information. For multiple authors, one author should be designated as the corresponding author. Abstract. It should not be more than 250 words. At least three (3) keywords must be written describing the content of the manuscript. Introduction. The introduction should include a sufficient background including the rationale on why the study was conducted. The clear-stated objectives and the scope and limitations of the study should be provided. A concise review of related literature should be included with in-text citations following the American Psychological Association (APA) style, 7th edition.Methodology. The methodology constitutes a clear and brief explanation on the methods/procedures used to allow repetition of study. Put emphasis and provide detail on new methods used. Cite previously used procedures.Results and Discussion. The results should be discussed logically. Also explain how the findings of your study relate to previous works.
    • Conclusions. Present the generalizations and contributions of your work briefly. This section shall also include recommendations and implications for policy purposes and future research direction as a result of the findings of the study.
    • Conflict of interest. Please disclose any potential conflict of interest either financial or personal relationships that could potentially affect research outputs. If authors declare no conflict of interest, please indicate the following statement: The authors declare no conflict of interest.
    • Acknowledgment (optional). A brief paragraph stating the funding agency, the institutions and organizations that have contributed assistance towards the completion of the study. Please Limit to 50-100 words only.
    • References. It should follow the APA 7th edition format for in-text citations and references. Please ensure that all listed references are cited in the text and vice versa. For further reference, please refer to the sample papers using APA 7th Edition for in-text citations and references.
  5. For RESEARCH BRIEFS, the length is around 4,000 words maximum (inclusive of references, tables, and figures). The main sections of the research brief can include the following:
    • Title page with authors information
    • Abstract with keywords
    • Introduction including brief literature review and overview of the methods
    • Discussions subdivided into sub-topics
    • Conclusions
    • Conflict of Interest
    • Acknowledgment (optional)
    • References
  6. Tables and Figures should be numbered chronologically (Table 1, 2, etc. or Figure 1, 2, etc.) with brief description. Table descriptions should be put on top of the table with table values aligned right. Figure descriptions should pertain to the illustration and written below the figure. Figures should be of high quality and in acceptable format (JPEG, JPG, and PNG). Remove spaces between the table/figure and its corresponding description.
  7. Mathematical texts and equations should be aligned left and numbered consecutively (e.g. (1), (2), etc.). The numbering should be written at the right side of the equation. The symbols and letters used in the equation should be briefly defined.
  8. SI units of measurements should be abbreviated and written in numbers (e.g. 3 cm, 10 m). If numbers are not used as units of measurement, it should be spelled out unless the number is greater than 10. SI units should be used whenever possible.
